Lynn Payette Workshop 2007 - Peony

Our guild was able to bring Lynn Payette to Halifax in October 2007 to instruct us on her piece called 'Peony'. Lynn is a wonderful instructor and has taught some of her projects, such as Spring Faerie and Lepidopetra, at EAC seminars. In fact Lynn Payette is teaching a 4 day course at the next seminar, Stitching Symphony-Ottawa 2014, called Tree of Life.

The Peony is worked on 24-counts white congress cloth and uses: floss, sheer fabrics (layered), French ribbon (ombre), metallic threads and beads, in shares of pink and cranberry. Emphasis is on 'cast-shadows', and how they relate to shading with threads, ribbons and sheers, for realism and perspective. The leaves (overlaid for depth and dimension) use stitches and techniques, including: couching, whipped open-fly, outline, twisted-cord, applying and layering sheers and ribbons.
